| 作品解説 | 原石の中央を、穴を続けて開けて、四角くくり抜いて、外に取り出してみました。すると、取り出された一回り小さな四角い石は、側面に無数の彫り跡を纏って、全く新しい立体となって出現してきたのです。さらに、後に残された元の原石も、内側に同じ無数の彫り跡を残して、虚の空間を内包した全く新しい立体に姿を変えていたのです。取り出した石と元の原石は、それぞれに凹凸の関係にあるにもかかわらず、全く別の新しい立体となり、それを取り巻く空間も、それによって生じる緊張感も全く違うものになります。この不思議な感覚と体験は、内とは何か、外とは何かを問う、新しい立体空間の誕生のように思うのです。 I repeatedly drilled holes into the center of a raw stone, cut out a square, and extracted it to the outside. What appeared was a slightly smaller square stone, covered on its sides with countless carving marks, emerging as an entirely new three-dimensional form. At the same time, the original raw stone that remained behind had also been transformed. On its inner surfaces it retained the same countless carving marks, and it had changed into a completely new three-dimensional form that contained an empty interior space. Although the extracted stone and the original raw stone stand in a relationship of concave and convex, each becomes a completely new form. The surrounding space and the tension created by them are also entirely different. This strange sensation and experience feels like the birth of a new three-dimensional space that asks: what is inside, and what is outside? |
