| 作品解説 | 広大な草原をゆったりと舞っていた葉が、突然その動きを止めてしまったかのよう。この二つのオブジェには、そんな微かな異質さが漂っています。《Klangfeld(クラングフェルト)》は、「音」を意味する Klang と、「場」を意味するFeldというドイツ語から成る造語です。本作は、音響とコミュニケーションに焦点を当てたパブリックアートシリーズの第7作目にあたります。これらは二つの音響彫刻で構成され、それぞれが「音の鏡」として機能します。そこに立つ人は、普段通りの声で、離れた位置にいるもう一方の人と会話することができるだけでなく、辺りの風景に潜む、思いがけない音の現象を発見することもできます。この作品が、人々の好奇心を呼び起こし、コミュニケーションを生む。身近な当たり前の音や風景に新たな驚きを与え、探究心を刺激する。そして、またもう一度体験したくなる、そんな作品になればと願っています。 There's something mysterious about the two objects that's hard to explain, like leaves that have suddenly stopped moving, while floating leisurely over a vast meadow. "Klangfeld" is a made-up word, consisting of two german words "Klang" (Sound) and "Feld" (Field). It is the seventh in my series of public art pieces focusing on acoustics and communication. It consists of two acoustical sculptures, which function as sound-mirrors, allowing visitors to talk between them over a distance in a regular speaking voice as well as discovering unusual acoustical phenomena in the soundscape of the area. Hopefully these sculptures arouse curiosity, making one want to communicate, explore and have a second look at ones familiar, yet always surprising surrounding sounds and sights. |
