| 作品解説 | 【作者コメント】室町時代につくられた民話桃太郎の鬼のルーツとも言われる温羅(うら)をモチーフに生まれた作品。温羅は、古代吉備王国の冠者(吉備冠者)でもある。国内最大級の前方後円墳である造山古墳、その王墓に見守られるアトリエで、備中神楽のお囃子や太鼓が聞こえ、鬼になって温羅と呼ばれた古代吉備の王を想う。温羅の身の丈は、備中吉備津神社の社伝では、一丈四尺(4.2m)と伝えられている。鬼の城・血吸川のおどろおどろしい地名。温羅と吉備津彦との戦い伝承から、制作中に、ダビデ像や仁王像、仏を守る神の立像や横綱の姿が浮かんだ。「温羅」は、雄々しい姿で、一歩踏み出す、生きる気迫を美しい色と核心のフォルムで表現した作品。 Sometimes gaps in consciousness appear, colorless memory particles gather and mix, forming a hazy group. A misty image continues to change and grow, and inside the dynamic and dramatic space, crystalizes. Starting long ago and never ceasing, like a repeating cycle, like a secret drumbeat whose emergence is unknown. This work consists of three pieces, and three connecting shafts. The main shaft's movement is controlled by a motor, and the side shafts follow the movement of the main shaft, maintaining the changing wave shape, while rotating. The unit, which is supported by two poles, repeats this languid movement, over and over. |
