| 作品解説 | 【作者コメント】大地と空、あるいは大地と海と空、その間にある何かを、何とか目に見える形にしようとしてできたものが、この海鳥の翼である。 鳥の羽ばたきと、かがやきを借りて、風に、そしてもっと大きな空になってみたいといつも思っている。 ---- 3本脚に支えられた翼が、風に従って、ゆっくりと浮遊するように動いている。軸を中心に回転する他に、各翼とも3ヵ所の可動部分により柔らかい羽ばたきを持たせる。目に見えない風の流れを捉え、視覚的に伝える彫刻である。陽光を反射して輝く羽根。ここにはチタニウム合金が使用され、9mを超える大きさながらも1枚20kg程度の重量を実現する。この軽くて強い素材によって、強風にも微風にも対応し、それぞれを表現することができる。一方の脚部分には、錆を持たせた鉄を使用。その色と質感が大地との連続を暗示する。それと呼応するように、羽根部分にも根元から先端へと、茶色から青色への微妙なグラデーションがつけられる。色彩と重量と動き、そこには大地から空へと繋がる大きなスケール感が込められている。風を感じさせてくれる彫刻。それは同時に、線的に構成された羽根を通して、空の大きさも同時に感じさせてくれる。「鳥の羽ばたきとかがやきを借りて、風に、そしてもっと大きな空になってみたいといつも思っている」と作者は言う。 Wings supported by three legs are gently moving, obeying and floating on the wind. In addition to the rotation around the axis, each wing has three movable parts that adds soft flapping movements. The sculpture visualizes the invisible flow of wind. The wings, reflecting in the sun and gleaming, are made of titanium alloy as light as 20kg per wing while having a size of 9m. The light and robust feature of the material enables the artwork to accurately react to both gusts and breezes. One of the three legs uses rusty iron to suggest its connection with the earth beneath it through its color and texture. The connection is responded by the subtle gradation from brown to blue, starting from the root of the wings to their tips. The enormous breadth of the sculpture connecting the earth and sky is realized by the use of colors, weights, and movements. A sculpture to feel the wind – it also tells us the vastness of the sky through the linear structure of the wings. The sculptor says: “I always want to become the wind and the sky by borrowing the flapping and the brilliance of bird wings.” |
