| 作品解説 | 【作者コメント】楠が大地に根をはって植っている。彫刻の中に自然な樹をとり入れて成長していく彫刻、呼吸する彫刻が出来ないかと思った。樹は大地から重力に反して垂直に空に向かってのび、斜面に水平にのびた鉄板の先端には地球の記憶を残している石が重力から解き放たれて浮いたようにある。そこには地球の引力と重力、物の存在のあやうさ、空中へ浮かびあがる浮遊感がある。人間と大地、自然と人間との新しい関係が生じてくる場をつくりたいと思った。 ---- 「樹とともに-浮くかたち」は、日常空間を制御する重力をレアに提示。そこから逆説的に、新たな空間を表現しようとする。作品に使用される素材は鉄板・玉石・樹木。重力と逆方向に伸びていく樹木によって垂直性を表示。それに呼応するように樹木の根本から、鉄板が水平方向に伸び、傾斜地を利用して鉄板の先を約40センチ浮かす。鉄板の先には重量感のある石が乗り、その緊張感によって水平性を強調する。垂直・水平や重力・浮遊といった、相反する状況を同時に提示することで、日常空間が分節される。そして作品を軸として周囲の景観へと連動していく。鉄板と玉石の表面は手が加えられないままに、必要最小限の要素でストレートに提示され、作品の力強さを生む。また、樹木も含む日常物による構成の空間は、日常空間を提示する方法として有効に機能する。作品が見せるのはありのままの生活空間。作品は普段何気なく過ごされる空間を再認識させ、新たな認識へと導く「場」として現れる。 “With a Tree – A Floating Shape” is a rare presentation of gravity that controls our ordinary space, from where it tries to draw a paradox by presenting a new space. The piece consists of an iron plate, a boulder, and a tree. The tree represents verticality, the force that defies gravity by growing upward. As if in response to the tree, an iron plate extends horizontally, with its edge keeping about 40cm of space between the ground because of the tilted ground. A heavy stone is placed on the tip of the iron plate, emphasizing the horizontality through the sense of tension it creates. By simultaneously presenting conflicting elements like vertical / horizontal, or gravity / flotation, the work segmentizes the ordinary space and then connects to, and expands influence on, the surrounding landscape, leveraging the entire space. The iron plate and the boulder, presented with untouched surfaces, demonstrate a powerful presence through straightforward and minimal elements devoid of artificial meddling. Furthermore, the structural space incorporating ordinary things like a tree effectively functions as a means to present an ordinary space. What it tries to stage is an ordinary space of our everyday life. The piece sheds a different light on the ordinary space in which we live almost unaware and creates a “place” to restructure our awareness of it. |
