| 作品解説 | 第16回現代日本彫刻展の大賞受賞作。自然石の上で天空へ向けて斜めに航海しようとしている舟形の石彫である。基部の自然石が花崗岩、上の船が人工的な切り込みと磨きをほどこした花崗岩。ことに船底に当る部分は黒く磨き出されているので、そのコントラストが美しく力強い存在感を焼き付ける。全体が石という素材感、逆に船というかたちからくるロマン。明日への不安を感じる現代と、記憶の中で失われてしまったものとが、堅固な1つの素材の中で出合うとき、私たちはロマンの行方がいっそう鮮明なものとしてよみがえるものを抱いている。湖水面がみえる常盤公園のそばに設置されているので昼に夜に、見る人々はわが身の航海先に夢を見続けるに違いない。 The winner of the Grand Prix at the 16th Contemporary Japanese Sculpture Exhibition is a stone carving of a boat, floating on a natural stone and trying to sail diagonally up towards the sky. It consists of a natural granite at the base and a ship above, made of artificially cut and polished granite. The ship bottom is meticulously polished black to strike out a particularly beautiful and powerful contrast. The piece oozes romanticism deriving from the exclusive use of stone as the material to make the form of a floating ship. When the present, shadowed by concerns for tomorrow, encounters things from the past lost in the memory in a solid material, our imagination starts to clearly remember where the romantic story heads for. Day and night, at the lakeside near Tokiwa Park, the stone boat will continue to stir dreams in viewers’ mind, visions of their destination in their private voyages. |
