| 作品解説 | 爪先鋭い鳥類の巨大な足、それが途中から切れて、頂上にちょこんと手をそろえて立っているのが、なんとあの愛敬をふりまく動物、プレーリー・ドッグなのである。世界はもはや覇権を競う時代は終わりに近づこうとしているが、プレーリー・ドッグにとってはキョロキョロ、まだ信じられませんと警戒気味です。どこかの国情と似てるような似てないような。90年代に入って作者のリアリズムとユーモアはますます冴えはじめてきた。 A giant, sharp-taloned foot of a bird is cut off in the middle, on top of which an animal – none other than the cuddly prairie dog – stands erect with its front paws raised together. Our world is finally nearing the end of struggles for hegemony, but the prairie dog remains alert, not ready to take in the change. It somehow reminds us of a certain situation which a certain nation is facing. The realism and humor of the sculptor grew sharper than ever in the 1990s. |
