| 作品解説 | 作者は、壊れかけた廃屋などの素材を利用して、それらを組み直しこれまでの彫刻とは違った一種独特の造形物に変換してきた。この作品は宇部市内の川で取り壊されようとしていた橋脚を再利用したもので、橋脚とそれらの粉砕材を組み立て直してこのようなモニュメントができあがった。流水下の橋脚についた貝殻や青みどろの表情が彫刻にいっそうの時間を付け加え、古い遺跡への郷愁を誘い出している。その彫刻観はいまや国際的に認められるところとなった。 The artist has been using materials collected from crumbling houses and other abandoned structures to rebuild them into something unique from existing sculptures. This artwork reuses a pier removed from a bridge across a river in Ube. The monument is made of the dismantled pier and its debris. Shells and green algae permanently stuck to the surface of the pier once submerged in the river water add the sentiment of passage of time to the artwork and nostalgia for structures long gone. This sculptural concept has now become an internationally recognizable expression. |
