| 作品解説 | 合わせて十数トンはあろうかと思われる巨大な石の塊が五基、ひと目見ると無造作に折り重なって置かれているが、これが曲者、無作為の作為というものだろう。いつ見ても倦くことがなく、存在感は見るたびに強さをまし、人は次第にこの石組みと対話をしたくなりはじめる。二基の巨石のうち左の方は基石の一つが欠け右の巨石は二つの基石で支えられている。欠けてバランスを失くした姿が私たちに風化や歴史をかえって蘇らせてくれるのだ。ひとつひとつの石の削りにも心にくい配慮がなされている。ときわ湖水ホール前にあって近代建築と好対照の眺めを創出している。 Five enormous stone blocks, probably weighing more than a dozen tons when put together, are apparently placed or piled on each other at random. But it may be a calculated arrangement, feigning randomness. The stone piece never ceases to attract us, and its presence grows stronger at every encounter, urging us to talk to it. Of the two megaliths, the left one has a missing base stone, while the right one is supported by two base stones. It is the missing part and the lost balance that reminds us of how things weather and become a history. Each stone is carefully shaved to generate a certain effect. Placed in front of Tokiwa Lake Hall, it creates a good contrast to the modern architecture behind it. |
