| 作品解説 | 高さ2.5m、幅1.68mの巨石を切り抜いて額縁のようにしたものが中央に立ち、その切り抜いた残りの大石が手前に倒れ、さらに後方に大小の残欠が点々と転がされている。一種のインスタレーション的な作品で、大小7基の石たちはバラバラに離れているように見えて、視覚的には中央の額縁の空洞の中へと復元していき1個の巨石塊になるような錯覚を覚える。よく合わせてみるとそれらは決して同量の塊ではないはずだが、そのように錯覚させるのは材質感のトリックである。作者は石の表面に細目の線状痕（矢ケンの割り跡）を入れ、7基が互いに連結するように見せかけているのである。 A megalith with a height of 2.5m and a width of 1.68m, hollowed out in the middle to take a form of a picture frame, stands in the center. The cutout falls on the ground in front of the frame, while some more remaining chunks in various sizes are scattered behind the frame. The work is somewhat like an installation, in which the seven stones with different sizes are seemingly detached from each other but create an illusion of the scattered parts going to fill the hollow in the frame to restore a single chunk. A closer observation soon reveals that the hollow in the frame does not match the total mass of the scattered stones, but the material textures trick viewers into visually believing it. This is achieved by the Sculptor deliberately leaving slim linear marks of the chisel on the surfaces to make the seven stones look like matching pieces. |
