| 作品解説 | 赤いトラバーチン石（大理石）を五層に積み上げた左右対称の門。割りノミ跡をそのまま残した表情が、この門を古風に見せ、歴史をしのばせるような雰囲気を出している。ちょうど宇部市の俵田翁記念体育館前にあって、古代オリンピックの跡地でもあるような、素朴な力強さを誇示するモニュメントである。 The sculpture features a symmetrical gate with five layers of red travertine stones (marbles). The visible chisel marks on the surface create an ancient atmosphere, like a nostalgic remnant of the past. The piece, placed in front of Tawarada Memorial Gymnasium of Ube City, exudes rustic strength like a monument marking the site of ancient Olympics. |
