Comment | A cylinder seal made from clear blue glass. Engraved with what may be a stylized sacred tree. Similar examples are rare. The results of x-ray fluorescence spectrometry analysis indicate the natron composition that used glass in the Mediterranean and Egypt and confirms cobalt as the colorant. The similarities with the composition of blue glass in Egypt from the Late period to the Ptolemaic era suggest that at least the ingredients were transported from the Mediterranean area. |
