Comment | A stamp seal made from light amber-colored stone. The tip has broken off, only the area around the face worked with a fine carving in the cut and drill style survives. The face of the stamp is engraved with a standing figure raising a hand in prayer to a god. Since Mushussu, the Babylonian dragon associated with the god Marduk, is seated on the altar, the stick-like symbol probably represents the god Marduk. An incense burner for purification is visible between the altar and the human figure. |
