Stamp Seal of Crouching Cattle

Collection number印152-1670
ProvenanceWestern Asia
PeriodUruk period
Dateca. 4000-3000 BCE
MaterialLimestone
DimensionL. 2.7 cm
CommentThis is a stamp seal in the shape of recumbent bull facing forward in relax. Unfortunately, its hindquarter is damaged. Bull is favored for the motif of the design as a symbol of power. Curved horns projecting forward are same as horned crowns of Mesopotamian divinities. This shows the awe and respect for bull.
