| Comment | A stamp seal made from lapis lazuli. The seal is engraved with the figures of a worshipper and the Goat-Fish, and, between them, a new moon. The Goat-Fish is a mythological creature with the head and forefeet of a goat and the body of a fish. Pictorial representations of it exist from the Neo-Sumerian Dynasties to the Hellenistic Period. Links to the god Enki (Ea) have been identified, but it seems that the icons were generally viewed as talismans. |
