| Comment | A mold-blown and re-blown bowl in transparent deep blue glass with a thickened bottom, bearing pontil mark, and ground mouth rim. Decorated with twenty-seven ribs tapering down from the middle of the body to the base; a slight thickening of the side of the bowl is found at the shoulder. Although the exterior is slightly weathered and rough to the touch, the quality of the glass is well preserved on the interior. One-eighth of the mouth rim is missing and has been repaired. Similar examples have been found in all areas of the Roman Empire. Many examples of glass bowls with similar workmanship, but produced in transparent light blue glass, have been excavated in the eastern Mediterranean region. |
