Comment | Corinth was the largest commercial city of ancient Greece. Pottery made in Corinth was frequently depicted various kinds of animals in influence of Egypt and Western Asia. The shape of main motif was painted in black and red, then the details were drawn by scratched lines of pointed tool. This technique is also considered as the influence of the decoration of metal crafts imported from Western Asia. At the end of seventh century BC, Attica region developed black-figure pottery applying this technique, then the black-figure pottery were exported all around the Mediterranean region. |
