Comment | A kohl tube made by rod-forming, which is a variation of the core-forming technique. (Unlike core-formed glass, there is no bulge in the body.) The black ground has been decorated with a white feather pattern; the mouth rim has been welded to a black glass rod and trailed with yellow, white and orange glass. Similar examples have been found in fifth century tombs at Ghalekuti in the Dailaman area of northern Iran and at Vani in Georgia. Eye liner bottles were distributed from northeast Iran to northeast Anatolia in the Achaemenid dynasty. Black pigment still remains inside this artifact. |
