Comment | Glass beads with decorations of rosette and geometric designs were made with molds. Although most of the surfaces show iridescence, the original part that was colored dark blue by cobalt oxide remained. People of Western Asia love lapis lazuli, but lapis lazuli was scarce because it was imported from far-off Afghanistan. Glass was favored as a substitute for gemstones like lapis lazuli. |
