Comment | Egyptian civilization was declining after the great prosperity of the New Kingdom period. The state economy failured around 1000 BC, and the power of pharaos was restricted only delta region of the lower Nile. On the other hand, the power of Amen priests of Karnak Temple growed, so that they establish the independent state at Thebes under the reign of the High Priests of Amen. The High Priest of Amen became the important position that surpassed the power of pharaos. Iset-em-Khebit and Neskhonsu are empresses of the High Priests of Amen, Pinedjem II. |
