Comment | People in ancient Egypt believed their rebirth in the world after death. The life after death was to be peaceful, though they were obliged to engage in physical labor such as farm works. Therefore, they buried a lot of this figurine together with the dead, because they believed that these figurines called "shabti" were supposed to labor instead of the dead. Hieroglyph inscription of the surface is a spell ordering shabti to work instead of the dead. |
