Comment | Made of paste that is a pale, garish white, this bowl has a clean bottom and smoothly rounded shape like white porcelain from the Song Dynasty in China. The glaze collected on the inner bottom is beautiful and a cross drawn with cobalt pigment creates an accent. Although some consider porcelain with a transparent patterns called Hotaru-de in Japanese as resulting from a Chinese influence , it seems that they were actually inspired by the openwork found on metal ware. |
