Spouted Jar with Animal Relief

Collection number土236-2916
ProvenanceAzerbaijan, Iran
PeriodIron Age
Date10th-9th Century BCE
MaterialPottery
DimensionH. 20.0 cm
CommentThis gray burnished pottery is similar to the materials excavated from Level IVB of Hasanlu, northern Iran. The four-legged animal (ibex?) with unusually long curved horn is carved in relief on the body of the pot. The long and narrow spout and the loop handle suggest that this is imitation of metal jar.
