Comment | This seal was made with lapis lzuli in Sasanian period. A humped cattle is engraved as a motif of the seal. In ancient Iran, cattle was important animal. Iranian mythology have conveyed the story below. The first cattle was killed cruelly by Ahriman, the god of destruction. Blood from the dead cattle fertilized land, where fifty-five species of cereals and twelve species of herbs were grown. From sperm of the cattle, a pair of cattle were born first, then the other animals were born. |
