| Comment | Metal is solid at normal temperatures, but fluid at high temperatures. It is malleable (capable of forming a thin sheet by hammering or rolling) and ductile (capable of being stretched into a wire). Metal is also opaque and has a metallic luster. This stemmed cup was shaped by exploiting the malleability of a copper alloy. Bronze is an alloy consisting primarily of copper, usually with tin as the main additive. In Western Asia, the proportion of tin in bronze was relatively low because tin is very rare in that region. |
