CommentTwo triangular motifs filled with lattice and checker patterns are combined into a quadrilateral shape. From its shape, the motifs are named “kites.” These characteristic, painted motifs have been applied to pottery from Level III of Baba Jan, Luristan, western Iran, and dated the ninth to eighth centuries BC. The shape of the kite was changed to a simpler shape toward the later period. Two triangles are merged into a single lozenge, and each motif is filled with simple, parallel lines.
