CommentThis pottery is typical of painted ware at Level I of Hacılar, southwestern Anatolia. The geometric pattern is drawn with reddish paints on a cream-colored slip. This type of pottery has a variety of shapes, such as square or rectangular bowls and jars projected at four corners. Similar kinds of pottery are found at other sites around Hacılar. This means that a unique material culture prevailed around the area, whereas Ubaid painted pottery was popular in Syria and Mesopotamia.
