| Concept | 当然のことながら、大地があってこそ人々の生活が成り立つ。地球上の生物はすべて、大地の上で生かされている。そう、大地は命の礎。それを形として表現した。短冊状に切り出された地層が方形に編まれ、折り重なり、また編まれる。バランスの保たれた縦横上下の繋がりは、柔軟で強靭。「大地-礎-」の形態は、自然界の生き物や人々の繋がりの姿でもある。人類が、希望ある未来を築き上げるためには、自然界の住人として、大地の上に在ることを常に意識しなければならない。 It goes without saying that human life is exists only because of the earth. All living beings on this planet live upon it. The earth is, quite simply, the foundation of life, and this work gives form to that truth. Geological layers cut into strips are woven into a square, folded over one another, and woven again. The balanced connections running vertically, horizontally, above, and below are both supple and resilient. The form of Earth – Foundation - also evokes the interconnectedness of all living things and of human beings within the natural world. If humanity is to build a hopeful future, we must remain constantly aware that we exist upon the earth, as members of the natural world. |
