| Concept | 記紀の神話によれば、混沌たる海中に矛を差し入れ、引き上げたその先端よりしたたり落ちる滴が凝り固まり、そのかたちが我が国の始まりであったと言う。その姿は蜻蛉の古名「あきつ」に似ているといわれていた。 この国のかたちが顕になったのはいつの頃からだろう。思いを太古の時代に馳せてみる。大地が現れ、水が流れ、樹木が繁茂し、生物が誕生して人の営みが始まる。生と死を繰り返しながら今の代まで続いている。 不遜ながら、石に形を刻むとき、自身が恰も国産みの創造主となったかの様な幻想を覚える。これからも続いていくであろう、この国のかたちと人の生業の永遠性に思いが至るのである。 According to Japanese mythology, the gods stirred the chaotic sea with their lance, and when they lifted it up, the drops of water hardened, and this is said to have been the beginning of Japan. The shape of the islands are said to resemble a mayfly, which used to be called "Akitsu". When did this land start to appear? I think about ancient times. The ground appears, water flows, trees flourish, living creatures develop and human life begins. The cycle of life and death repeats and continues until the present. Maybe I'm being arrogant, but when I carve stone, I feel the same as the gods must have felt when they created our country. |
