| Concept | 新築成った宇部市立図書館閲覧室の正面上方壁面いっぱいに設置されたレリーフ作品である。アルミ合金の薄い鋳物で五大陸や文字盤などをあしらいながら、ときには羅針盤とか文化史的な図像などもからませて、興味深い世界地図を形造っている。エッジやラインがくっきりしない鋳物の特性を集合配置させることによって、あやふやな世界、あるいは、これから新しく創造されようとしている未知な世界をも連想させている。 The relief work occupies the entire upper front wall of the reading room of the newly built Ube City Library. The thin, cast aluminum alloy depicts five continents and a clock face presented in combination with a compass rose and other cultural and historical images to form an intriguing world map. The congregation of cast metals characterized by blurred edges and lines skillfully invites viewer to imagine an ambiguous world or an unknown world about to be born. |
