| 作品解説 | 布について考える。 布は、たわんだり、突張ったり、垂れたり、はためいたりする。するとそこには、皺やよじれ、もしくは張力による独特の表面が生まれる。私たちは、このような布によって起こされた布の形態、布の布性とも言うべき質に魅力を感じる。素材がそれ自体としてそうあろうとする形に強く惹かれるのだ。 例えば、広い原っぱに布が掛けてあるような風景を想像する。引っ張られてしわがよったり、風が吹いて大きくはためいたりする。そういった有り様、もしくは風景のようなもの、形態であると同時にできごとでもあるような、そういった形態になる前の質感のようなものを、宇部の湖畔に置いてみたい。 一反の布を掛けるという単純で、そしてささやかな介入を、この作品を通じて行うことができたらと思う。 Think about cloth. Cloth bends, stretches, sags and flutters. Its creases, torsion and tension create a unique surface. We are attracted to the shape that cloth makes, and to its particular quality. That the material itself takes these shapes is very fascinating. Image a landscape where a wide cloth is spread over a huge open field. Pull it to unravel its creases and it flutters with the wind gusts. This phenomenon, this landscape, it is both a creation and a form at the same time. We want to place its quality across the side of Lake Tokiwa before the cloth takes a form. We hoped that the simple spreading of a cloth and then modest interventions could occur through this object. |
