“Holy Family” series of the 1990s replaced “Don Quixote” series, under which the sculptor prolifically released works. The fun of his sculptures lies in its method, in which he welds and combines round metal rods, resulting in outcomes totally different from a standard sculpture, which typically carves out a shape by manipulating a lump. The wandering family members of Noah, releasing birds while escaping the flood, look thin and humorous. Located at the corner of a rotary by JR Ube Shinkawa Station, where Symbol Road starts, it stands as if to instill courage into citizens as they encounter various challenges. Another work by Munehiro Ikeda from “Don Quixote” series is installed at the entrance of Tokiwa Museum (Museum of Green, Flowers, and Sculpture).
