解説　宇都宮美術館には00XBC0297と00XBC0298という、「美好」の文字が刻まれたふたつの印鑑が収蔵されている。しかしながら、それらの出処ははっきりしていない。かつて松尾邦之助は長谷川潔とともにビゴー晩年のアトリエを訪れ、そこで「美好」の印を見たというが、当館所蔵の印との関係は不明である。
　「美好」という二文字から成るシンプルな00XBC0297の印が押された作品は当館にも多数収蔵されているが（例えば《横浜到着の日 いまむら屋旅館にて初めての和食》00XBC0030）、一方で、「美好」の文字の周囲に「ATELIER G. BIGOT」と刻まれた00XBC0298の印が押された作品は見つかっていない。また、当館の作品の中には「美好」という篆書体で刻まれた印を持つ作品も複数存在するが（例えば《朝鮮 済物浦（仁川）》00XBC0096）、この印の所在は明らかではない。

The Utsunomiya Museum of Art owns two seals carved with the characters 美好, which can be read bi gô and were chosen by Bigot as his name characters (00XBC0297 and 00XBC0298). However, their provenance is unclear. Both Matsuo Kuninosuke and Hasegawa Kiyoshi visited Bigot's former studio where he lived during his later years and saw seals there but the connection between those seals and the seals in Utsunomiya is unclear.
Many of the Bigot works in the Utsunomiya collection are impressed with the simple two-character "bi-gô (美好)" seal 00XBC0297, for example Arrival Day in Yokohama, First Japanese Meal at Imamuraya Inn (00XBC0030). On the other hand, there are no known works impressed with 00XBC0298, a seal with the "美好" characters surrounded by the words "Atelier G. BIGOT." There are also several works in the Utsunomiya collection impressed with aseal-script "bi-gô (「美好」) " seal, for example Jemulpo, Korea (Incheon) (00XBC009), but the present whereabouts of this seal are unknown.
