解説　00XBC0107～00XBC0111は『アルジェリアのエミール』と題された諷刺画集のための原画である。これは、時の大統領エミール・ルーベ（1838-1929、大統領在任1899-1906）への手厳しい諷刺となっている。アルジェリアは1830年から1962年までフランスにより支配されていたが、ルーベ大統領は1903年にここを視察に訪れている。その際、大統領を乗せたのは1902年に竣工したばかりの装甲巡洋艦「ジャンヌ・ダルク」だった。第1場面《「ジャンヌ・ダルク」に乗り、エミール・ルーベがアルジェに到着》（00XBC0108）において、下劣な行為に及ぶルーベに対して彼を背負うジャンヌ・ダルクがマリアンヌに言及しているのは、当時共和国政府によって政教分離の政策が進められていたためだろう。一方ではカトリックからの離脱を進める共和国のトップが、他方ではオルレアンの乙女の名を冠された軍艦に嬉々として乗っている。そんな矛盾を鋭く突くビゴーの視線に、反教権主義の思想を読みとることは確かに可能であろう。
　これらの原画に基づいて出版された画集は、現時点までに確認されていない。

00XBC0107 – 00XBC0111 are preparatory drawings for a satirical picture volume titled "Emile in Algeria". This was a fierce satire of Emile Loubet, the French president at the time (1838-1929, president1899-1906). Algeria was a French colony from 1830 to 1962, and Loubet visited the colony in 1903 as president. He made the journey on the newly built in 1902 armored cruiser Jeanne d'Arc. The first scene in the volume Emile Loubet Arriving in Algiers on the "Jeanne d'Arc" (00XBC0108, cat. no. 290, p. 166) shows Joan of Arc carrying Loubet, shown here in a vulgar guise on her back, and mentioning Marianne (symbolic of France), indicating that the Republican government of the day was advancing their policy for the separation of church and state. On the one hand, the head of the republic sought to advance the separation of the country from Catholicism,while at the same time, happily boarded a warship named after the Maid of Orleans.
Bigot's gaze skewered this inconsistency and he can clearly be read as reflecting anticlerical sentiments.
The picture album published from the sepreparatory drawings cannot be currently confirmed.
