解説　ロシアへの取材旅行からほぼ一年後、ビゴーは日清戦争の取材のために朝鮮へと渡る。00XBC0095～00XBC0098は、この取材の際に制作されたか、この取材で得た知見を手掛かりにして後に制作されたものだろう。ビゴーはこの取材旅行でたくさんのスケッチを行ったほか、写真を撮影し、あるいは他の写真家から写真を入手し、『ザ・グラフィック』紙や『ル・モンド・イリュストレ』紙に送った。それらは1894年秋から1895年にかけて二紙の紙面に掲載されている。
　《朝鮮の将軍》（00XBC0095）は、その書き込みから、ビゴーがフランスに帰国したのちに『ジュルナル・デ・ヴォワヤージュ』誌のために描いたものと考えられる。しかしながら、同誌のうちに本作が掲載された号の存在は確認されていない。

About a year after he traveled to Russia on his sketching trip, Bigot traveled to Korea togather material on the First Sino-Japanese War. 00XBC0095–00XBC0098 were either sketches made during that trip, or were drawn later on the basis of information gained during that trip. In addition to the many sketches he made on this trip Bigot also took photographs or was able to acquire photographs by others. He sent these materials to The Graphic and to Le Monde Illustré. These sketches and photographs were then published in these papers during 1894 and 1895.
≪Korean General≫ (00XBC0095) has writing on it that suggests that he drew it for the Journal des Voyages after his return to France. However, the actual issues publishing this image cannot be confirmed today.
