| 作品解説 | 都市はいまやゴミをはき出しながら呼吸している。ことに使い捨てられた電化製品や工業製品は始末におえない。車、オートバイ、冷蔵庫、TV、オーディオ、ガス器具etc。だが、これらありふれた日常品のゴミも、表のカバーをはずしてみると、作者にとっては宝の山か星屑のようなロマンをかき立てるものにみえるらしい。それら部品の数々を高さ5mの円塔形に積み上げ、ところどころ、まだ回転能力の残っているモーターなどを使って羽根やファンを回す。あるいは回転する打楽器となって音を奏でる。作者にいわせれば「ゴミはスター・ダストに変わった」のだ。常盤公園の松林の近くに立っていると、湖水を渡る風に乗って、部品たちは反射陽光をまき散らし、チリンチリンと奏でる屋外楽器に変貌するのである。 Today’s cities breath out trash. Abandoned electric appliances and industrial goods are particularly notorious. Cars, motorcycles, refrigerators, televisions, audio devices, gas appliances, and so on – once the covers are removed from these ordinary wastes, however, they seem to arouse romantic imagination in the sculptor, as if they are treasures in a treasure trove or stardust. Parts from these devices are piled up in a cylindrical tower rising at 5 meters. When motors left with some power are used to rotate wings and fans, or when their rotation functions as percussion instruments and plays music, “the trash has transformed into stardust”, according to the sculptor. As you stand near the pine forest of Tokiwa Park and listen to the wind floating above the lake water, you will notice how the abandoned parts glitter in the sun and transform into an open-air instrument playing jingling sound. |
