Maxim Pumper Fire Engine

DescriptionThis fire engine was imported from the United States in 1929 and stationed at the Kanda Fire Station. It was highly valued due to its tight turn radius and its ability to be used even on narrow side streets. It was active on the frontlines for more than 20 years until 1953. It was equipped with a rotary pump from the Northern Pump Company which boasted an ability to discharge a volume of water that was powerful for its day. With its somewhat chunky style, it charmed everyone who encountered it.
