| 作品解説 | 北斎が描いた東海道物7種の内、版行年が最も早いと考証される揃物である。東海道の53の宿場の図に、出発地の日本橋と到着地の京の2図を加えた計56図から成ると思われるが、「金谷」図を欠き、現状55図が伝わっている。他に遺存例が知られていない稀覯品で、「島田」（nagataⅠ/hok/c/024）などに「吉野屋徳治郎」なる詳細不詳の版元名を記載している。小品ながら丁寧な摺りを施した図や余白を大きくとる図が散見され、摺物や絵半切（書簡や詩歌の用箋）に通じる穏やかな画調で統一している。北斎の他の東海道物が人物や旅の風俗中心の描写であるのに対し、風景に主眼を置いた図が多く、北斎の後年における風景表現の萌芽を見出せる。 |
