| 作品解説 | この作品は牛島が1963(昭和38)年、厚生省から国立公園の絵画制作を依頼され、写生のために島根県を訪れた折の取材をもとに翌年に描かれ、第6回現代日本美術展に出品された作品である。牛島独特の柔らかな色調は混色をせず、純色の上に白色を薄く重ねることによってもたらされる。画面の上下を二分する水平線や中央に白くそびえる灯台を配置するという強い画面構成でありながら、穏やかな叙情が漂うのは、牛島の柔和な色調と形態表現によって生み出された静謐な作風によるものであろう。自然と人工物を静かに調和させた牛島の特徴あふれる作品である。 |
