| 作品解説 | 黒漆地に金銀蒔絵で単菊、八重菊をバランスよく器面全体にあらわした中次である。金銀粉の蒔き暈かしによって花弁の一枚一枚を陰影をつけてあらわし、17輪の菊のうち6輪は銀蒔絵で表されている。内部は黒漆塗りで、畳付内に「光秀」漆描銘がある。 共箱は、身の底裏に「菊中次 貞玉斎光秀造」の箱書と「有」角印がある。類品として、光秀作「源氏蒔絵棗」（田部美術館蔵）の内部にこの棗と同様の蒔きぼかしによる菊文様があり、中次の器面にそれを応用したものと見られる。 作者の勝軍木庵は、高蒔絵技法で器面を埋め尽くす作風で知られるが、この作品では金銀粉の濃淡のみで黒漆地に大輪の菊を立体的に浮かび上がらせ、高い蒔絵技術を示している。 |
