| 作品解説 | トルソとは、イタリア語で頭と四肢を欠く胴体だけの彫像のことである。このトルソという題材は植木が好んだ代表的なテーマである。この作品のように、どこか彫刻家に生命を吹き込まれた、生き物を思わせる有機的な形態を持ち、伝統的な人体表現として制作されているものではない。日記を綴るように、日々木を彫り続けた植木は、「出来上がった作品は、自分の顔であり、思想である」と語り、木の持つ暖かみと清潔な生命感を重厚なフォルムで表現した。微妙なバランスを持つ二つの形がリズミカルにつながる作品である。 |
