| 作品解説 | この作品は近代木彫の祖とされる高村光雲の最晩年に制作されたもの。少年の聖徳太子は自然なポーズをとり、手綱を引かれている牛は体毛の質感まで克明に描写され、その息遣いさえ聞こえるようである。こうした自然観察は、早くから西洋彫刻の実物写生の研究を行った光雲ならではのものであり、その成果が結実した作品といえよう。 |
