代々木八幡遺跡

Cultural property nameSite of Yoyogi Hachimangu
CommentaryYoyogi Hachimangu was located on a plateau with an altitude of about 32 m, and artifacts from the Stone Age were discovered from its grounds.
Consequently, in the summer of 1950, the city of Shibuya conducted an excavation of this location. In addition to discovering numerous artifacts, the city found a site of a dwelling that was built by digging a shallow depression in the Kanto loam.
Through the Kasori E type earthenware that the city dug up, it can be told that it was about 4,500 years ago when people lived at this dwelling site.
The city of Shibuya, which has reconstructed the ancient dwelling that stood at the site, is working to preserve this site of a dwelling.
