解説文（日本語）　アカゲラは，日本で見られるキツツキのなかまの代表で，白黒の体で下腹部が赤いのが特徴です。オスは頭の後ろの部分も赤くなります。アカゲラなどのキツツキのなかまは，木の中の虫を探すため，移動しながらくちばしで木をたたきます。木をたたいて虫が開けた穴を探し，見つけると木に穴を開けて，中にいる虫を長い舌で食べるのです。

Males are also red on the back of their heads. Woodpeckers, such as the great spotted woodpecker, strike trees with their beaks while moving in order to search for insects inside. They hit the tree to find holes made by insects, and when they find one, they make the hole in the tree larger and eat the insects inside with their long tongues.
