| Description | A photo of the area around Rensouji Temple from the south. Keio Horinouchi Station can be seen at the bottom right of the photo. The area being developed on the right side of the center of the photo is the 19th residential block of Tama New Town. The existing village of the 19th residential district was excluded from development due to a protest movement by dairy farmers and was designated as a ``dairy-intensive district.'' After the completion of the Tama New Town Project, the east and west areas of the existing village were developed by private businesses, and residential lots were created and sold as ``Nishiyama'' and ``Higashiyama'' (Reference: Tama New Town Danchi Map Guide - Iroha Danchi). This photo shows the landscape of Higashiyama. This photo can be compared with 1983 ID6482. At the time ID6482 was taken, the picture showed a wide view of the hills and Yatoda, but in this photo, the area around the Oguri River in the foreground has undergone significant urbanization. However, the village in the center of the photo retains traces of ID6482, and is thought to reflect the background described above. |
