| 解説 | 1939年(昭和14)の結婚を機に哲三は、画業に専念し、農村社会と農民をテーマに本格的な制作に取り組むため新発田から加治村(現新発田市)に転居します。 本作は、まだ理解に乏しい農村でのモデル捜しに苦労しつつ最初に制作されました。第15回国展で、歴史学者・羽仁五郎は日本の農村社会の「ルネッサンス」を感じるとして強い支持を寄せました。 光を浴びて輝く表情とたくましい手。強調された明暗の対比。新たなテーマに立ち向かう哲三の意気込みが感じられます。 After his marriage in 1939, Tetsuzo devoted himself to painting, moving from Shibata to the village of Kaji to work on full-scale production of art on the theme of rural society and farmers. This work was produced for the first time while Tetsuzo was struggling to find a model in the rural area, since understanding of his work was still poor. Historian HANI Goro strongly supported Tetsuzo at the 15th National Exhibition, claiming that he had felt the “renaissance” of rural Japanese society through Tetsuzo’s works. Tetsuzo’s enthusiasm to approach a new theme can be felt in the shining expression in light and strong hands and in the emphasized contrast of dark and light. |
