| 解説 | 妙義山は群馬県にある火山で、ともに小山正太郎の画塾不同舎に入門した同郷の親友坂本繁二郎らと写生旅行したときの作品です。青木は不同舎で学んだ2年後、東京美術学校に入学しました。同校入学後に描かれた本作は、不同舎時代の堅い写実から抜け出し、黒田清輝がもたらした印象派風の明るい色彩で描かれています。小品ながら、28歳という若さで亡くなった夭折の画家が10代の頃に描いた貴重な1点と言えます。 Mt. Myogi is a volcano in Gunma Prefecture. This work was painted by AOKI on a sketch trip there with his close friend, SAKAMOTO Hanjiro, who was also enrolled at KOYAMA Shotaro’s painting school, Fudosha. Two years after his studies at Fudosha, AOKI joined the Tokyo Academy of Fine Arts. This work was produced after he joined the academy, with bright colors and an impressionist style taken from KURODA Seiki, breaking away from the rigid realism of his time at Fudosha. While the work is small, it’s a priceless work from the teenage years of AOKI, who passed away at just 28. |
