In this work, the entire surface of the pair of six-panel folding screens is treated as the surface of a river, with ripples drawn in Gohun, whitewash. Etsudo, who made a name for himself through newspaper illustrations, was particularly skilled at depicting people, and this work depicts people of different social classes crossing the river. Etsudo and his younger brothers Chikuha and Kokkan were collectively referred to as the Otake Brothers, and the three were active from the middle of the Meiji era to the early Showa era. His works were exhibited for only a short period of time, so the remaining examples are valuable.
