| 解説 | 作者は東京美術学校の教官としてパリに留学、留学中にはパリ万国現代装飾美術工芸展覧会（通称アールデコ展）の審査員を務めました。帰国後は若い工芸家たちにヨーロッパの新しい思潮を伝えるなど、日本近代工芸の第一人者として知られています。本作は作者の幾何学形態を主題とした代表作の一つです。日本的なアールデコを意識しつつも、シンプルな形態と限りなく簡素化された装飾を絶妙に融合させており、静謐な落ち着きの中にも豊かな律動を感じさせる作品にし上がっています。 TSUDA studied and taught in Paris as an instructor at the Tokyo Art School, serving as a judge for the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative Arts and Crafts in Paris (commonly known as the Art Deco Exhibition) while there. After his return to Japan, he became known as a leading figure in modern Japanese crafts, informing young craftsmen the new trends of Europe. This work is one of TSUDA’s masterpieces themed on geometric forms. While being conscious of Japanese Art Deco, it exquisitely fuses simple form and infinitely simplified decoration, creating a sense of rich rhythm even in a quiet calm. |
