These two attendants of Shaka Nyorai (Sakya Tathagata) are drawn on golden ground, which is rare as a support for this painting. The figure of Fugen Bosatsu (Samantabhadra Bodhisatta) seated on a white elephant with his hands together is thought to be modeled after Fugen Bosatsu (Samantabhadra Bodhisatta) (12th century, Tokyo National Museum), showing traces of classical research. On the other side, the blue lion on which Monju Bosatsu (Bodhisatta) is seated looks like a real lion, and it is possible that Kanzan was conscious of winged lion images in the West. Kanzan's skill can be seen in the detailed lines in the patterns of the two bodhisattva’s costumes and the blurring of the halo so that the gold background can be seen.
